Knit, Knit, Knit

Well, this last week I started a scarf for a friend and then ripped it out, then finished it. It turned out so well. She didn't want the scarf to overwhelm her so I made it out a silk/bamboo yarn. It's so soft and luxurious. Then I finished a chenille scarf I've been working off and on for a couple of years. It wasn't a priority. Still working on the Circle Vest.

Night after Prom

Prom went well last night. The girls looked gorgeous and the boys very handsome. I had fun despite some reservations about going. Finally got a picture of the wrap I made for Diane. She loves it and is using it regularly as a hug to help her through her bad days. I've been working on the circle vest. It seems as though it's taking forever. My CeCe has been on hold this week. I had to take it upstairs to keep it safe from a visiting puppy and haven't brought it back down. Out of sight, out of mind I guess. Well, for this mind anyway. Off to Home Depot for some soil for the vegetable garden my husband and sons are making.

A great Mom's day, although I worked too hard for it to be restful. It's my daughter's and my brother's birthday so we had a birthday celebration combined with a mom's day celebration. A little cool today in Michigan so we had to stay indoors rather than the lovely weather we had at Easter. Julie asked for Tacos for dinner so we had them along with various salsas, dips, and salads. A great meal but we over-ate. Then my sister-in-law brought a Ding-Dong Cake. A new family favorite. Got tickets to see James Taylor and Carole King in a few weeks. I'll be reliving my youth... Can't wait. Happy Mom's day to everyone!

The day started out kind of crappy but has ended on a better note. The Wings won 7-1, yahoo!!!I posted a picture of the purple ripple skirt that I made for Courtney on Ravelry. It was finished a couple of weeks ago. She loves these skirts. It makes it so much fun to make something for her. I blocked the Citron and it is amazing how much it can grow in the blocking process. Worked on the circle vest. It's looking so cool!! Can't wait to finish it. The CeCe is coming along. My phone is still not working, will have to go to the phone store tomorrow. I hate going to the phone store. I always feel out of my comfort zone. Well, that's enough for tonight.

President's Weekend

It's been a great weekend. Finished my Mondo Cable Pulli. Read a little and watched a lot of the olympics. I love the olympics whether it is the summer or the winter games. I admire the athletes who have made sport their top priority.

Started the New Year with a cold but things are looking up with my back. Finished a pair of gloves for me and have started on a pair for my daughter. I need to get started on knitting a sweater for me but am trying to finish up some unfinished projects. I am enjoying my Kindle greatly and try to make the books last more than a day or two. The latest book club book The Last Town on Earth was not one of my favorites, because it wasn't as uplifting as I like, but I learned as a result of it that my grandfather was in the service during World War I and came home as a result of the Spanish Flu. Crazy what comes out when you open up the conversation. We're reading Good Grief next. I've started it a couple of times. I guess I'll have to finish it now.

Thanksgiving

Well another wonderful Thanksgiving Day. We had a small celebration this year. I'm always thankful when I have my children home at the same time. My mom got a chance to go to my brother's and then into NYC. Something she's always wanted to do. Good for you mom. Since she broke her arm, she's needed a little something to cheer her up. I'm still laid up but now it's my back. Sooner or later I'll get this old body moving again. I have faith. I've finished 2 hats, 1 pair of gloves, and am close to finishing a pair of socks. The gloves are from a vintage pattern that I'm sure my grandmother used. Recently have read a good book, Any Bitter Thing by Monica Woods. It's a story with lots of twists and turns, good for book club.
